DigiSET

Erasmus+ project that treats digital competences and sustainability together — in professional development for teachers across Europe.

DigiSET — Digitally Sustainable European Teacher Academy — builds up a European professional development offering that treats digital competences and sustainability together rather than separately.

The starting point is an observation familiar to many teachers: training on digital tools and training on sustainability run side by side, although the questions belong together. Anyone unaware of the energy consumption of large language models cannot explain to students why using them involves a trade-off.

In terms of content the programme ranges from Web 3.0, artificial intelligence and blockchain to green and transversal competences. It aims to reach around 600 teachers in the participating countries.

What the project produces

  • Training modules for teachers, building on one another
  • a platform of open educational resources (OER)
  • AI-supported simulation scenarios for rehearsing classroom situations
  • an interdisciplinary virtual community of practice

Consortium

DigiSET is coordinated by the University for Continuing Education Krems. The consortium comprises sixteen institutions from eight countries: universities, schools, education authorities, teachers’ unions, education companies and associations. That mixture is deliberate for a Teacher Academy — professional development only takes effect if initial training, employment law and school supervision go along with it.

There are also two associated partners: BG/BRG Oeversee in Graz and Technological University Dublin. TU Graz is a consortium partner; the project runs from January 2026 to December 2028 and is funded under number 101249272.

The training provider Maude Studio from Málaga brings experience from vocational adult education into DigiSET.
