The institute’s three areas — data science, human-computer interaction, and science and technology studies — together cover exactly the questions that converge in FLAAIT: how learning data are modelled, how tools are designed so that people understand them, and what the societal consequences of their use are.

In the FutureDEAL doctoral programme the institute contributes the computer science supervision; the doctoral researchers therefore work at a university and a university college of teacher education at the same time.
